Solar PV Array Inspections

String-level faults, bypass diode activation, hotspots and shading losses, with DTAT spot-temperature quantification and a severity rating on every finding.

THERMAL + RGB

What we check for

  • Cell, substring and module-level hotspots
  • Bypass diode activation patterns
  • String and section-level thermal elevation consistent with electrical faults
  • Shading losses from vegetation, plant or adjacent structures
  • Cracked, delaminated or physically damaged panels (RGB)
  • Junction box and connector heat signatures
  • Soiling and general array condition

An example of what you get back

Every finding in every report follows the same structure — location, frame reference, affected area, confidence, probable cause and recommended action, rated Red / Amber / Green. Here's a worked (illustrative) example from this survey type.

Finding 1: Array Section — Section-Level Thermal Elevation

LocationEast array, columns 4–7
Frame reference0006_T / 0006_RGB
Estimated affected areaMultiple panel columns; estimated 20–40+ panels
ConfidenceModerate-to-high
Severity rating (RAG)AMBER

Observation: A distinct section of the array shows consistently elevated thermal signatures compared to an immediately adjacent section which reads cool. Both sections appear visually identical in the corresponding RGB imagery — no damage, soiling, or shading.

Probable cause: On balance of probability, a string-level or circuit-level electrical issue causing this section to generate little or no electricity.

Recommended action: String-level electrical inspection, including string open-circuit voltage and current measurement. Priority finding.

How the RAG rating works

Every finding on every survey type is rated against the same published definitions, so a Red on one job means the same thing as a Red on the next.

● RedA live risk of water ingress, structural risk, or a safety hazard — flagged for prompt action.
● AmberLikely to progress to failure if left unaddressed, but not currently causing a problem.
● GreenCosmetic or early-stage — worth recording, not urgent.
